Mediator's Comments: My primary occupation is that of a lawyer and I have been engaged in the full time practice of law since 1995. My practice areas have included: labour & employment law, human rights, discrimination, personal injury (plaintiff and defence; motor vehicle accident and others), insurance law, wills and estates, wills variation, corporate & commerical, construction and general civil litigation. I have completed alternative dispute resolution and mediation training through the University of Victoria, as well as with the Law Society's Continuing Legal Education and the Justice Institute of British Columbia. I have also participated in the Court Mediation Program - Small Claims Practicum and the Child Protection Mediation Practicum. I am qualified to mediate any civil dispute, including family and child protection issues. I practice interest-based mediation and I encourage parties to be forthright and honest in their communication and disclosure in order to ensure that their intersts can be fully canvassed. I also encourage participants to be creative when considering possible solutions to their disputes, so as to increase the likelihood of coming to a mutually acceptable resolution. I consider my role to be a facilitator of communication, unless the parties request otherwise.
