Admission to the Rosters   >   Maintaining Membership on the Rosters

Civil and Family Rosters:

Membership on both the Civil and Family Rosters is renewable annually, at a cost of $200.00. For applicants who are already a member of one of the Rosters, the annual membership fee for the other Roster is $75.00.

Members of both the Civil and Family Rosters are required to complete 20 hours of ongoing professional development or continuing education every year. The Society has developed a set of guidelines for the professional development requirement.

Adhering to the Society's standards of conduct, as set out in the document Standards of Conduct for Mediators (PDF), and maintaining a minimum of $2 million (aggregate) professional liability insurance coverage, are additional requirements for maintaining membership on the Rosters.

Child Protection Mediation Program Roster:

Mediators on the Child Protection Mediation Program (CPMP) Roster are on contract with the provincial government. While the B.C. Mediator Roster Society is affiliated with the CPMP Roster, it is not involved in the renewal of these contracts, or in setting the ongoing professional education requirements for this Roster. The Dispute Resolution Office, Ministry of Attorney General, manages the CPMP Roster contracts and, in collaboration with the Ministry of Children and Families, has set the ongoing professional education standards.
